Brewing news Serbia and Montenegro: First offers for the sale of Peja Brewery in Kosovo

Kosovo Trust Agency (KTA) has accepted the first offers for the sale of Peja Beer Factory (N.P. Fabrika e Birrës), Grand and Iliria hotels in Prishtina, and Vila Germia, according to KTA’s sources. KTA provided no details, according to ECIKS. They said: “We can not provide details. Bids may be submitted until the afternoon”.

However, sources of the newspaper for the KTA revealed that only two offers for the Peja Brewery have been accepted so far, one from the “Dukagjini” company, allied with the current management, and the other one from Gani Dreshaj, with a beer production facility in Hamburg, Germany.

Zeke Ceku, Manager of the Kosova Company, says in the meantime, that he does not know who has bid. “Many companies visited us, but we do not know the number of bids presented, or companies in competition”, says Ceku. Remzi Ejupi, owner of Eurokoha Travel Agency, said that they have not bid for the purchase of Grand Hotel. “We did not, since we did not agree with the bidding criteria”, he says.

Peja Brewery L.L.C. includes the plant and all equipment needed to produce 325,000 hectolitres of beer and 17,600 tons of malt per year. Besides, equipment comprises an unfinished brew-house with much higher beer production capacity - this could eventually be completed. The company enjoys a secure supply of raw materials and benefits from a plentiful supply of clean water.
